[RAVEN'S HEART GAME - SESSION FOUR]

The first thing you hear is the sound of rain faintly hitting the exterior of the house. The soft pitter-patter is almost soothing, in a way, but it’s quickly followed up by rumbling thunder in the distance. You open your eyes, and for a second all you see is a flash of light--at first it seems like it’s lightning, but then you see something. A vision of a man dressed in rags, hunched over, waves of demonic power rolling over him. He howls, and something terrible starts to grow out of him: the bloody roots of a massive tree. An immense wave of panic hits you, and you can’t move, you can’t speak, you can’t breathe--

And then it’s over. It’s over. You’re fine.

The sound of rain returns. (This time it’s definitely soothing, compared to what you just saw.) You’re standing in the foyer of a mansion, a wide open living room in front of you. The door behind you is faintly ajar, leading outside.

It seems like this is going to be a fruitless endeavor at first, because none of these shelves are labeled, so you can't even begin to imagine what system of organization is being used here. However, as you're looking, you spot it almost right away--Songs of Innocence and Experience, by William Blake. You see the marked letter V on the cover and everything.

[ yoink! ]

[ she should leave and give the book to the smol, but first she's going to move to the sleeping raven and plonk down beside him; setting a hand on his head and combing her fingers through his hair as she opens the book to a random page. ]

The sun descending in the West,
The evening star does shine;
The birds are silent in their nest,
And I must seek for mine.
The moon, like a flower
In heaven’s high bower,
With silent delight,
Sits and smiles on the night.

As you open the book, a dagger falls out. It looks simple but sharp--perfectly functional.

Raven in the nook sleeps deeply, though he makes a soft sleepy noise at the touching.

[ ...stares. ] I... what. [ she's kind of surprised a dagger is hiding in the book, since that could have damaged it, but whatever. she's going to stash it, snap the book shut, and then lean down to kiss his temple. ]

[ she kind of just wants to sit here, nestled with him, because she's relived to see that he's here and ok and *safe*, but... she promised a smol. ] I'll be back. [ unless i find another demon. ]

[ going to head back to the hall, then the living room, and then the outside. ]
