The first thing you hear is the sound of rain faintly hitting the exterior of the house. The soft pitter-patter is almost soothing, in a way, but it’s quickly followed up by rumbling thunder in the distance. You open your eyes, and for a second all you see is a flash of light--at first it seems like it’s lightning, but then you see something. A vision of a man dressed in rags, hunched over, waves of demonic power rolling over him. He howls, and something terrible starts to grow out of him: the bloody roots of a massive tree. An immense wave of panic hits you, and you can’t move, you can’t speak, you can’t breathe--

And then it’s over. It’s over. You’re fine.

The sound of rain returns. (This time it’s definitely soothing, compared to what you just saw.) You’re standing in the foyer of a mansion, a wide open living room in front of you. The door behind you is faintly ajar, leading outside.

[ yeah, that checks out. the high school one, however, he makes a slight face at before turning his attention away.

he wanders over into the bathroom, lifting up the shag rug to see if there's anything under it. ]

Nothing under there, unfortunately. It's a very nice rug, though.

[ it sure is. goes over to look in the mirror next? ]

The mirror is definitely… a mirror. I say this because while it reflects anyone in front of it, the scenery behind you is different. Instead of the bathroom, what you see is a vision of a beach, with dark murky water under an overcast sky. If you’ve ever been in Glory’s room, you’ll likely recognize the same scene. Faintly, you can hear water in the distance.

[ he raises an eyebrow with a "hm?" before reaching out to touch the surface of the mirror. ]

It ripples, like the surface of water... and doesn't seem especially hard. Like you could stick your hand in, if you wanted to.

[ sticking that hand ALL THE WAY in, yup. ]

You do so easily. It seems like you could walk in here, if you wanted.

[ through the mirror he goes! ]

The room opens up to what appears to be a lake shore--black smooth stones carved with unknowable runes line the rocky shores, and the water is inscrutable, glassy and dark. Occasionally ripples spread, emanating as if something large and unknown is moving beneath the surface. The bed is in the usual ☆Zrael style, placed now upon a short pier with a nightstand beside it. Nearby is a natural hot spring.

Sitting on the bed wearing his usual ☆Zrael attire is Raven. He smiles as he sees you enter.

[ oh, well. this place is definitely familiar.

he strides right up toward the bed. ]

Heyyy. Long time no see, huh?

"Hi," he smiles at you. It's a little... off-putting, actually, how genuinely happy he looks. His features are all the same--he looks like the same goth twink you've always known--but he seems so... content.

[ that is... definitely a look he hasn't seen before. on anyone's face ever, possibly.

he briefly shifts uncomfortably on his feet, the way someone does when they feel like they don't belong somewhere, but he asks casually: ]

Something nice happen in here? You're in an awfully good mood.

"I like it here. It's peaceful... and it's close to the rest of you."

Where's Glory? Off taking a shower or something?

[ meanwhile, he takes a seat on part of the pier near the bed. he idly slips off a shoe and then dangles a leg over, seeing if he can dip his toe in the water. ]

"No, she's not here. It's just me."

The water is cool, but not too chilly.

[ hm. rolls up his pant leg and sticks his leg all the way in, kicking it idly to see if he can find anything down there. ]

Any reason you're hanging out all alone?

There's a few lake rocks, but otherwise nothing of note.

"Alone, am I...? Perhaps, but I don't feel alone. Not when I'm surrounded by all of you."

You could have us even closer, is all I'm saying. But if you say so.

"I feel pretty close already. But, you're right."

He gets up and goes to sit down right behind you, wrapping his arms around you and resting his chin on your shoulder.

despite him basically just encouraging this, he still flusters. he attempts to cover this up by petting Raven's hair after a beat of hesitation, though. ]

Wow, that must be the fastest you've ever listened to me. Gyahaha.

"You have good ideas from time to time."

He nuzzles the back of your neck.

Uh-oh, guess I'd better work on that.

[ in which direction? who knows.

he continues to rhythmically card his hands through Raven's hair. was he supposed to be doing something in here? oh well, clearly that can wait. ]

Raven hums, pleased by the attention. He seems plenty content to cuddle like this, too.
