The first thing you hear is the sound of rain faintly hitting the exterior of the house. The soft pitter-patter is almost soothing, in a way, but it’s quickly followed up by rumbling thunder in the distance. You open your eyes, and for a second all you see is a flash of light--at first it seems like it’s lightning, but then you see something. A vision of a man dressed in rags, hunched over, waves of demonic power rolling over him. He howls, and something terrible starts to grow out of him: the bloody roots of a massive tree. An immense wave of panic hits you, and you can’t move, you can’t speak, you can’t breathe--

And then it’s over. It’s over. You’re fine.

The sound of rain returns. (This time it’s definitely soothing, compared to what you just saw.) You’re standing in the foyer of a mansion, a wide open living room in front of you. The door behind you is faintly ajar, leading outside.

Unfortunately, your blow gets knocked aside by one of the spiky tendrils. You still manage to hold onto it, at least. The panther continues to make jabs at the tendrils, severing one or two of them, but more keep growing. One of them makes a quick dive at you, and stabs right into your thigh.

The large figure just laughs.

[he lets out a sharp yell, and then...well-- you know what--]

Time to get the fuck out of dodge.

[which is more difficult when you're injured, but as long as his leg ain't broke, he's gonna try.]

What's going to hinder you most isn't the pain, it's the fact that the large spiky tendril is now attached to you. It pulls, and as it does it hauls you towards it. The panther makes a distressed noise and fills the tendrils with jabby spikes to try and get it to let go, but most of its attempts are blocked by the spinning crystal.

The large figure waves a hand, and another spiky tendril stabs through the arm holding the cane sword, forcing you to drop it.

[well, electricity is out. but is using a micro freeze ray tucked in his sleeve out too?

because that's what he's going for next, as he wrenches himself back.]

You know what? I'll allow it. The freeze ray successfully stuns the tendrils and they writhe in pain before collapsing into a shower of ice crystals. Between that and the panther's relentless spiky jabbing, you manage to free yourself. The panther quickly closes the distance and hovers right by your side, at the ready.

The large hulking figure makes a displeased noise.

“CONTEMPTUOUS CREATURE...!”

The spinning crystal hurtles past you, blocking your exit. What do you do?

[grab the sword again. and-- make a break for it.]

If you've got something that can obscure us, that'd be great.

[because he's pulling out a gun and firing it-- only slightly hindered by the pain as long as he gets out of there ASAP]

The gun goes off and manages to strike the large hulking creature right between the eyes. It lets out a roar, and rises to its feet. As it does, you feel the ground tremble, and the spiky tendrils blocking your way writhe in anger. The panther lunges for the large figure, its body morphing into a massive spiky ball that plunges into the figure's chest, the force of which pushes it back onto the throne. You see the mass that was the panther fizzle into ash, but the impact was enough to render the figure stunned for a few seconds--and is enough to force many of the tendrils back into the ground, clearing the path.

[and then he's sprinting back out the way he came, and going to bandage himself in the foyer. thank you.]
